End of the roadtrip

I made it home safely, for those who were keeping track. 1500+ miles in 47 hours. Woot.

And I am now celebrating with snuggling and copiouos consumption of sake. *wobble*

Oy.

Tell me you were home for several hours before you logged on and posted. NJ and NYC weren't too much trouble, I hope?

Weak. I've done 1200 in 25 hours once!

Of course, I was younger, and in a very odd mental state when I finished... nearly fell asleep while zipping through a very foggy, mountainous I-80 in eastern PA...

I've done 750 in 13 before, although one time, the route was backed up and it took 17...driving by myself, no relief.

Of course, there's also the road trip my dad took, where he could see clouds in the Gulf of Mexico in his rear-view mirror. The clouds were from Hurricane Camille.

But back to the matter at hand. Glad to hear you two made it home safely!

I-84 in CT is one of my least favorite roads. It's still ranked above I-95 in CT at rush hour, but only barely (and only during peak traffic on I-95).

It was nice to see y'all too. The next time you find yourself fleeing a hurricane, we hope your travel plans will take you through Philadelphia again. Philly's more fun when you sleep over™ (http://www.gophila.com/accommodations/index-cantdoitinaday.htm).

That beats my best of 1000 miles in 21 hours, although I took a short nap in the middle (at a rest area outside Cleveland).

I would drive up to Boston for week stays, so 750 in 13 hours up, stay a few days, drive back down. A lot of times on the drive down, I did have to take a nap in the middle...most famously at the VA welcome center about 9 in the morning.

1080 miles in 19.5 hours. On a motorcycle. *RAWR*

Belated welcome home! Gad, those were the days, when I could do marathon drives (as from NC to MA), and then turn around and go straight to work!! Alas, no more...
