5:30 am is an hour that I shouldn't even know exists. And yet, that's the time I've had to get up every single day this week. If we don't teach this child about *civilized* hours soon, I'm going to do something drastic... And tonight I get to stay up all night helping move servers at HarvardNet. As much as I know I need to earn the money (after all, how else will I pay for getting pierced this weekend?), especially since I'm not working on Thanksgiving (and my company has decided that only full time employees deserve paid holidays), I'm very much wishing that I hadn't volunteered for this gig. But it will be fun, even if I end up zombie-fied for the rest of the weekend.

And the excitement part? Widget pulled herself to standing this morning! We were sitting on the bed, she was holding my hands, and the next thing I knew, she was standing in front of me! Watching her do things for the first time always thrills me, even as they fill me with terror (standing leads to walking, walking leads to a destroyed house). Pretty soon she's going to be mobile, and there will be nothing we can do to stop her. Oh my.

And we had to lower her crib matress yesterday, so she doesn't pull herself up and then take a header out of the crib. We took the crib bumpers off, and tranformed what had been a very comfy, home-y looking little nest into something that looks like baby prison. I think we'll put the bumpers back on tonight.
