The meteors were cool. Not quite the 2000 an hour promised, but Boston has serious light pollution, and we're still only 8 miles or so from Boston, (even less as the crow flies), so we didn't exactly have optimal viewing conditions. There were still at least four or five a minute during the peak times. It was wonderful. I'd never seen a meteor shower, so I didn't even know what to expect. Right now, of course, I'm listening to a fellow TIMster describing what he saw out in the west, and it was a million times better than ours. I'm not going to let that make me jealous and cloud my experience.
Today I went out with
gala - the company her mom works for was having a Warehouse sale, and I got about $500 worth of sweaters for about $125. And on the way, had the strangest breakfast ever. I've never eaten breakfast in a bar before. But the omelettes were excellent.
And we came home and chilled out. WIley took Widget for a lot of the afternnon, I think he's trying to "earn" the week off that he has coming up soon. Lucky boy gets a week and a day away from all his family responsibilities. He says he'll miss us, but I think he's looking forward to it anyway. My Dad and I are going to head out to Tucson, and spend a week visiting my grandfather, and his wife, and maybe driving to Roswell to see Wiley's mom. I know the trip is important - I haven't seen my grand father in at least four years, and this may well be the only time he gets to see Widget, but I'm dreading the trip. Two flights each way, about 7 hours total, then a 90 minute drive. Then maybe 8 hours or so each way to go to Roswell. But it'll be nice to let Kate show off the darling grandbaby to her friends in person. But oooof.
But that's not for another week, and for now I think I'm going to cocentrate on my good mood and on getting some sleep.
