Pleased with myself
May. 30th, 2002 06:25 pmIn the course of the past 7 days, I have fixed three significant and unusual problems for our customers. Well, truthfully, in two of these cases, "I fixed" means that I approached my company's lead developer in a manner conducive to getting him to help me find the fix. Some days, though, given how stressed out he is, just that in itself is hard work.
One was a problem that had Miss
prunesnprisms and I scratching our head for a week before it escalated into a crisis and had to be fixed right now. I was finally able to get Andrew the information that made his brain click, and he had an answer within minutes.
One was a problem with a feature that I haven't looked since August of 2000, because only one site uses it, and it only blew up when they needed to move machines.
The last was a Transact-SQL scripting question, which isn't my strong suit. I tinkered with it, had an effective but ugly way to do it, proposed it to Andrew and within 10 minutes he had come up with a much cleaner, more efficient way to do it that should leave the customer completely satisfied.
I like this part of my job.
