Yesterday, much lunching with Lorac, then picnicking. The lunch was fun, the picninc was lovely.

It was a farewell party for a friend of ours - she leaves in three weeks to spend two years studying in Spain. She told me yesterday that she hopes to find a job there after school and live there for a while before coming home. I'm very excited for her, and very jealous for her all at the same time - it's a huge exciting thing, and it really hits my in my love of adventure and change that I can't do stuff like that too. But mostly, I'm just happy for her - she's stuck to her guns, worked in her field (translation) instead of going to the easy and conventional route of the steady job and paycheck, and it's paying off for her now. She's so excited, I can't help but be happy for her. I'm sad though - I don't want her to move. It's weird - we're not very close firends, but she's one of those people who are like touchstones in my life. It won't feel the same wirh her on the other side of the ocean.

After the picnic we brought the napless Widget home and had some quiet family time. She was sooo tired, she wouldn't even eat dinner; she just screamed and screamed when we tried to feed her. Somehow, she STILL stayed away in her crib babbling until 9:30 (and I wonder why she's sleeping until 10:00 every morning?). Then Wiley and I took turns kicking each other's asses in Super Puzzle Fighter. Which I should probably return to Lorac sometime soon. Sadly.

Today was Dim Sum with Lorac, her boyfriend, her mom and her mom's boyfriend. Now, that was fun. I'm not sure exactly what her mom's boyfriend's background is, but I dare say it had not contained Dim Sum anywhere in it. He was, however, game for the meal, and I think we all had a good time. Widget was still tired (having been woken up at 9:15 so we could go) and so the noisy restaurant was a bit overwhelming for her. Instead of yelling or being naughty, though, she just kept leaning over for cuddles from mommy and daddy. It was charming. Came home, played for a while, then we both wentdown for a nap. Two mid-day naps in three days - this is very weird for me.

After naptime, we headed out so I could try flying our new kite. I'dnever successfully flown one before, so I was SO happy when it went right up and stayed there. While I was flying my nice basic one-string butterfly, these guys showed up with fancy trick kites that were doing all kinds of dancing around. So, now, of course. I want one of thoooooose. I wanna be a cool kid too!

Then home, and a quiet evening of family time and Sex and the City. A good two days. Now, I'm sleepy again.
