Friday Five

1. Did you vote in your last elections?

No. Please don't yell at me, I know, I know. I don't even have a good excuse, aside from my registration being bungled, and not having found City Hall to fix it. On the National level, it didn't matter as far as outcome, MA sent back our Democrats to the House and Senate. And I know, I now don't get to complain one iota about Mitt Romney.

2. Do you know who your elected representatives are?

Senators Edward Kennedy and John Kerry. Representative William Delahunt. I know my town's state Senator too.

3. Have you ever contacted an elected representative? If so, what was it about?

I have - Varous times about abortion issue, about the proposed war in Iraq.

4. Have you ever participated in a demonstration?

Yup, although not since college.

5. Have you ever volunteered in an election? What was the result?

Okay, this one's embarassing. I have not volunteered for an election since I've been of voting age (although I think I'm starting to get interested in it. BUT, my Dad's an active member of the Republican party and when I was a kid, I helped him with his various political stuff; leafleting, phone calling, poll working. When he ran for State Rep in 1986, he lost, but I also helped campaign for Reagan and Bush Senior. Yes, folks, I was an active Republican from 1983-1988 or so. I'm so ashamed! ;)

Well.

An entire week, with essentially no posts from one Friday Five to the next. This isn't good. I've had so much going on and lots to write about, and no time to actually sit down and write any of it. I'm not even sure that most of it would be very good public consumption reading anyway.

Work is very very busy and at about its same constant droning level of stupidity. I don't think I like project managing very much either, and that doesn't leave me much else that I haven't tried in this company yet. As usual, all signs point to my needing a life change, but getting someone to pay me for it seems impossible.

Home is busy busy busy. Widgets learning something new everysingle day. She can now play with her shape sorter without anyone helping her find the correct places to put the shapes in. This amazes me. And we're starting the beginning baby steps of potty training. She loves her potty bunches, but I don't think she's quite figured out what it's quite for yet. If anyone has suggestions or tips, I'd love to hear them. I've decided to make a bunch of my Christmas presents this year. Since stitiching is what I do best, it's also what I'm doing for this. That's taking up huge chunks of my time. I'll be happy with it when I'm finished, though. Goal here is to have the actual stitching done by Dec. 1, the piecing together by Dec 15th, so that they can be wrapped and shipped off (for thse that reqire shipping at least). Then mybe, I can relax a bit before the holiday. Wiley doesn't realize it yet, but I want to be the uber-organized one this year, with the shopping done early and no last minute stress.

Even more so than usual, I'm feeling this strong pull to be doing three (or more) things at once - I've got a huge stack of interesting boks waiting to be read in the other room, I'm hugely committed with stitching projects through at least next February, and I've got this internet addiction to feed. If only I could be in three places at once, life would be much better.

I'm psyched though - I've got Wiley's birthday present all taken care of, and it's going to be a doozy. Now I just need to restrain myself from giving it to him for the next 11 days or do. I love having awesome resents to ive to people. I only hope he loves it as much as I'm expecting he will.
