So, one day last week, I went to retrieve Miss Widget from her crib to find she'd unzipped her sleeper, and was halfway out of it. This morning, Wiley went in to retrieve her, and found her naked, except for one foot she couldn't free from the foot of the sleeper. Not only was she naked, but the's popped her diaper open, spilling those yucky little pellets everywhere. Eeeeew. Thankfully, at least, this time there was no poop, and it appeared that she'd not peed either. But still. Really, that's just the luck of the draw, and I doubt we'll be so lucky a second time. So, now I have to figure a way to keep her dressed enough so that she can't get diaper access. I pondered duct taping her diapers closed, but that's a pain. I thought about safety pinning the neck of her sleeper closed, but if the kid can work zippers, she might get (un)lucky with the safety pin and do something bad with it. The best idea I've thought of so far is to try and find some el cheapo onesie undershirts for her to wear under her sleeper. They're not too expensive, not too warm, and so far, she hasn't demonstrated the ability to unsnap things from between her legs. Cross your fingers for me that I don't go in there tomorrow morning to find that she's done a lovely abstract mural in poop.

S'funny, this morning she awakened me at about 8:15 with a terrifying shriek of anger. I'm so not good with being woken up suddenly that I started out of bed, then when Wiley grabbed me and said "I think she's fine", I just kind of tumbled back into bed, mumbling "okay, then..." He was nice enough to offer to go get her and keep her busy for ten minutes so I could swim to consciousness at my more usual and better pace. God help me, I'm just not a morning person. We think she was just mad as hell that she couldn't get that last foot free.

This past weekend, she was so incredibly active, I was staggered. Friday, we went to the mall, because it was raining, and she kept asking to go for a walk. Since we needed to buy her holiday shoes anyway, I figured she could go walk there and burn off some energy. She walked from one end of the mall to the other and back without whining or acting tired once.

Saturday, we walked out into the esker and she climbed up the big hill by herself, and then walked most of the time for the hour that we were out by herself. It was so close to naptime by the end of that trip that she was practically falling asleep on Wiley's shoulder for the last leg of the way home (Also funny was that, because we had enclosed her hands in her snowsuit sleeves, she thought she couldn't use her hands to catch herself. One of the times she fell, she just kind of forehead planted into the ground. Luckily, the ground was soft, and she got her hood, not her skin. It was funny to watch, at least since she didn't hurt herself.)

Sunday when she and Wiley walked out to Dunkins for coffee, she walked half of the way out there before asking to be picked up. That's at least a quarter mile, and probably closer to a half. When Wiley picked her up, he put her in the carrier so he could make good time - I'm betting that if he'd carried her and put her back down after a bit she would have walked even more. Then, despite no napping, she walked to the playground, ran around there for 20 minutes, and walked home too.

I keep expecting her to have less stamina than this, I'm not sure why. I'm also not sure what keeps her going, if she really has this much energy, or if she keeps moving through sheer force of "I don't want to sleep" will. It is something to behold though, that's for sure.

She's learned how to say Grandpa (Gumba). I can't wait to see my Dad's face when he hears her say it. We're working on me-mere and hoping she'll have that by Thursday too.
