Because I have a wonderful husband who disappeared with our daughter soon after breakfast (which I slepyt through), and I decided to put my day off to good use, and do yardwork all day instead of lazing around like I (probably) should have.

First order of business? Finishing off the nasty wild roses in the backyard. They made decent fence cover, but they were too unruly. When they started sending out sappers all over the backyard, it was time for them to die. I started on Friday, trimming as many of the canes as I could. Finished this morning with trimming more canes, and pulling out as much of the roots as I could manage to get on my own. There was one that was too think fo me to break (it unhelpfully disappeared under the fence into our neighbor's yard), and one that was to close to the fence for me to dig out. I left those for Wiley to wrangle with.

Then I tackled weeding he front border, and getting the six bags of mulch I bought on Friday down, in the hopes up cutting down on the overall weediness, and making it look a little neater and pretty. I used ever bag of mulch, and I hae to go back and get a few more. While I was mulching, Wiley and Widget came home. He fed her lunch and put her down for a nap, then came out and mowed the lawn and installed the rest of my bed edgers into the front flower bed, so that it'll be a little easier to keep the grass out of it

And now, I'm tired. Got a nice long hot shower, pampering myself time after that, and all I want to do is collapse on the couch and wait for the Simpsons to come on. I suppose I should figure out what I'm going to do abut dinner, though.

Update, later: Dinner? a marbelous no stress evening of foraging. Six Feet Under, mmmmmm.

Bed now, I think
