What a week. I'd say I was glad it was over, but I got a ton of shit to do this weekend to get ready to go.

And I'm soloing this weekend, so that Wiley could get a well-earned weekend away with Chris L in New York. It feels like I get more weekends off than he does, but when I really think about it, I' not sure that's true. Either way, it's been a while since he's gotten off by himself. Oddly, this is the first time he's gone away that I haven't felt the need to make plans with people so I'd have company while watching Widget while he was gone. I suspect this is a further sign that I'm getting better/more relaxed/happier in this parenting gig - I know that she and I can find enough things to do to entertain ourselves.

That we're going down to CT to see my Dad is entirely because Widget woke up the other morning insisting that she wanted to go see Grandpa, and wouldn't be dissuaded, despite the fact that we're going to spend all week next week with my parents. So I made plans to head down there for the day. My dad was tickled pink that she was askig for him. Don't know what we're going to do, besides just spend time together. I should pack her swimsuit in case it's stil crazy hot.

Anyway, back to the trip. We're still woefully unprepared, but at this point there is nothing to be done except go, make the best of it, and hope it isn't as bad as I fear. Come hell or high water, I'm on a plane back to Boston on Thursday evening. I'm going to be mostly absent for the next couple of weeks, between Chicago and New Hampshire, so y'all will have to miss me. I'm still bitter about the fact that company has STILL not replaced my laptop. They're treating it like its some kind of bonus perk/toy, not the NECESSARY ON-SITE TOOL that it is. It's making me crazy.

Hmmmm, I had a lot more to say, and now I can't remember any of it. Well, I'm sure I'll think of it tonight as I'm trying to sleep.

I have to say, I'm really learning how to work my library system, and I am loving it. Between having a branch right near my house, and the main Quincy branch right near my office, I'm just in heaven.

I finally picked up a book [livejournal.com profile] kaasirpent recommended to me months ago that I thought I'd have to wait forever for, since I don't like buying new-to-me authors in hardbound, but there it was, waiting for me on the shelf on Thursday. I love that I can try new authors for absolutely free, and I was perusing their crafting section last night, and found they have quite a few knitting/crochet and stitching books. Definitely better to snag a pattern from a book there than to buy a book for one pattern.

And I've found thier online catalog. From the comfort of my own desk, I can look to see if they have books I want, renew the books I have, and request that books be sent to my library from all over the souh shore.

It may seem like a silly thing to get all excited about, but it's saving me gobs of money, and keeping me in reading material. I'm loving it. Especially the online renewals, since I am QUEEN of forgetting to return books.
