I've found the last piece of furniture that we truly needed for the tv room... attractive storage for our DVDs and overflow cds.

I'm not a big fan of having media like that out in the open; one of the big selling points of our former entertainment center (too big for the back room - if anyone want a huge entertainment center that's in good shape, let me know) was that it had a lot of hidden storage space.

We have a little hole of a space in one corner of the room, about 2 1/2 feet deep by a little more than a foot deep, bounded on the "front" by the arm of the sofa, and the side by the new entertainment center. I've been hoping to find an an attractive shallow shelf to put there to store the dvds on. I've been meaning to hit the unfinished furniture place in Quincy Center this week to see what they had, thinking I'd not be able to find a piece that would close and still fit the space.

This afternoon, I had the thought that if I could find something with *sliding* doors, I might be able to find something that would be closed, but still fit the space. I went back to my desk and hit Google, and found exactly what I was looking for.

This:

Attractive, closed, fits the space (we measured tonight).

I can't wait for it to get here.

In other news, I am growing up and actually getting a cll phone that's not tied to my work. So I can use it without getting called on the carpet for using too many minutes. Three cheers for growing up, eh?

A couple of mights ago, Ms. Widget was upstairs taking a shower while Wiley and I puttered around downstairs.

Out of nowhere, there was an incredibly loud crash and the sound of breaking glass from upstairs. I streaked up the stairs, and as I ran I heard Widget ask "What was that?" Pheew, not Widget in the bathtub. I look in her room and ours to see if maybe there's a cat that knocked something over. Nope. Hmmmm...

I opened the bathroom door and see the cover for the fan / light on the floor in a million pieces. Dude. I totally thought that was plastic. Nope.

Wiley cleans up the glass, I carry Widget from the tub to her room, just in case he missed any (a. I didn't want to spend the evening at the emergency room and b. if anyone's going to get cut up feet, I'd much rather it be me or Wiley, not Widget.) So, thank goodness nobody got hurt - if anyone had been using the other facilities at the time it fell, it might have caused some serious injury.

Now Wiley's trying to track down if we can replace the glass, or if we need to replace the whole unit. Here's hoping it's just the glass.
