Another weekend of epic proportions
Mar. 31st, 2008 04:20 pmThis past weekend was entirely a blur.
Friday was usual playdate, with the unusual twist that WIley was home for the evening when we got there. Highly preferable, for many reasons.
Saturday we met up with
whuffle and
halleyscomet and
gala and
hoo for dim sum. Yummy, and a much better meal than the last time we went. Was getting worried that I was losing my taste for dimsum. After that, Wiley and Widget dropped me off at the train - they headed off to do a check up on the race truck, since Wiley's first race for the season is in a couple of weeks and I headed up to Porter to meet up with
prunesnprisms so that I could finally make a decision about glasses.
Got there early, so spent a few minutes browsing in Porter Square Books (*love*). Went in, the glasses they had ordered specially for me were *awful*. Nice burgundy rims, gorgeous. Red-orange earpieces, really ugly. They were criminally ugly. Tried on the red glasses of love from last time, and I really didn't like them. I'm not sure why, but they just were not working for me this time. Tried on a new pair that they'd gotten in between then and now, and loved them. Ordered, waiting impatiently for them to come in. Current glasses are so bad, I can believe I've been putting up with them for as long as have.
After glasses, which was surprisingly fast and non painful, we gathered up Mr. Matthew and went to 'Za for a leisurely lunch of deliciousness. I love that place so much, and the cucumber-tomato salad is one of my favorite things ever. After that we headed up to
tool_of_satan's place for game night. Did not play many games, but we did have an awfully good time.
Sunday, we headed up to
elsterm's place for her daughter's dedication ceremony (the UU equivalent of baptism). Wow, was her house full of people. It was kind of insane. There were so many babies and wee ones there, it made my uterus ache. Even though I know there's a million logical reasons to not have another, it doesn't mean I can't wish for one in my heart of hearts. Her little girl is so astonishingly adorable, I just want to cover her in snuggles and kisses.
We didn't get home from NH until latish, so we snuggled up on the couch to watch a few more Powerpuff girl episodes on the DVD we've got from Netflix. Widget is really grooving on them, and I must admit to having a good time with them too. Wiley headed off for Rock Band night and I zoned out to Law and Order repeats, while I (almost) finished sleeve one of Widget's sweater.
I realized last night that with last week's insane week, other than breakfast on Sunday, I'd not eaten a single home-cooked meal since Easter dinner. I turned down an invitation to go out tonight, again, because I think I really need to just have a night to cook and relax (and go grocery shopping, since we have no bread).
