Jun. 22nd, 2005 04:30 pmShe has been seriously bitten by the reading bug. I figured that one day we'd just transition from having to encourage her to try to read new things to her deciding it was worth the hard work of learning, and boy was I right.
Sometime in the past week or so (maybe while I was gone) she's suddenly decided she WANTS TO READ. I first noticed last week when she tackled her new Dora book nearly all by herself. Since then, she's been trying to read everything, even my beer bottle at the dinner table. Definitely exciting times.
Even cuter is that sometimes she asks me to just read to her.

Hmm. Well, there's something to scrounge next time I'm home, provided it hasn't been given away.

Date: 2005-06-22 09:34 pm (UTC)Encouraged her previously just by suggesting that she try a page, or a few words on a page, sticking mostly to 3 and 4 letter words. Before that, we had her alphabet magnets on the fridge, and we would play the word game, where she would ask us to make a word with the letters, and she would help us figure out which letters we needed by sounding out the word and matching the sounds to the letters.
