Stupid car tricks.
Feb. 11th, 2008 10:22 amI love my little car, I really do.
But I wish it handled cold weather better.
For years, it's had this annoying habit of freezing the doors shut when it's cold - moisture gets in the padding that seals to doors edges and them the padding freezes to the doorframe, making it difficult to open the doors at times. Once, for the first time, this winter, the driver's side door froze well enough that I couldn't open it. Thankfully Widget was in the car and was able to push from the outside and between the two of us, we were able to get it open.
This morning, it trotted out a new trick, even more annoying.
I opened the rear driver's side door to put my stuff into the car, and it wouldn't close. Hmmmm.... Something caught in the door? Nope. Try again. Nope. Slam, slam, slam. Nope, nope nope.
Wiiiiiiley!
He comes outside. Slam. Slam slam slam. Nada. Zip! Zero! Zilch.
Siiiiigh.
He ended up getting the heat gun for paint scraping and gently warming up the door mechanism so that it would engage properly when the door got pushed shut. I'd hoped it was fixed, but when I got to the office and had to open the door to get my bag out, it wouldn't shut, again.
sigh.
I love my car, really.
