Wow. That's about all I can say. Just... wow.

Ani solo was more amazing than I think I can find words for. She and her one little guitar managed to fill the entire stage, the entire theatre, and make it feel like she was singing just for you (never mind the 600 hundred other folks in the place).

She opened with Both Hands. She played Out of Habit, Subdivision, Out of Range, Shameless, If he Tries Anything, Two Little Girls, God's Country, her 9/11 poem, a couple other poems, a piece she said that so far she'd only played for her cats (a beautiful, rambling long song-poem, and some new pieces I didn't recognize. She read poetry to us. It was transcendent.

Funniest part of the night? She tells a little story after playing Out of Habit... how she's in NY, underage, playing at a coffeehouse in the Village, and this kid, also underage, comes up and asks if he can quote that last song she played... in his yearbook. "Yeah sure. That was c-u-n-t... Oh, that's not the verse you meant..."***

And to top it off, we walked out of the theatre to find it snowing, and Boston Common covered with a quiet layer of snow. The only thing that would have made it better was if the bestest ninja on the planet could have been there too.

Note to self, and other Boston folks. She's coming back in November (the 19th and 20th). Who's up for a concert?

Every tool is a weapon if you hold it right.

OOH!

I wish I could have been there too. That would have been wonderful.

Hugs and the beautiful Ms. Jenn and Ani. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

That would have made for a VERY happy ninja.

I'm sorry that I couldn't make it, but I am very glad you had a great time.

Maybe I can make it up to Boston for the November show. That would be nice. =)

I'm in!

You -know- I'm in...and mary too...i convinced her on the phone.
So if youre doing the group ticketness so we can all sit together count plus 2.
I had a blast. I wish Claw could have been there but it was magical. I love Ani and I love you and I hate diddly lil boys who probably dont understand half of what Ani has to say and stupid teenage girls who throw themselves into the backs of thier seats with reckless abandon.
*happy*
