Wow, has it really been four years?
Apr. 25th, 2002 07:02 pmFour years ago today I said "I do". Waiting for our JP to forget and call me by my sister's name (she was a family friend). Watching my bored cousins fidget in their pew. Seeing my grandfather get all teary eyed, and my father beam. Fighting back tears of my own. Knowing my mom had scowled her way down the aisle, not because she didn't want me to get married, but because she hates having her picture taken THAT MUCH. Screaming fits because I got grease all over the skirt of my dress (before the pictures, even) and immense relief when our florists managed to fix it, I am forever in their debt. Hearing Wiley read a poem about growing old with me. Using the traditional vows because, well, you can't improve on the original. Dancing and screaming and laughing with our friends and family. Never seeing the GIANT BLOCKS OF CHEESE. "Hand Jiving" with a big circle of womens, and nearly throwing my back out trying to Charleston with Wendy. Dancing with my father, he about to burst his buttons. Dancing with Wiley, feeling like the only two people in the world. Watching two friends look downright murderous over the garter thing, since their SO's caught the bouquet and the garter. (I just put together that my friend Elaine who caught the bouquet... while not being the next woman to marry, will be getting married at Sturbridge herself, this fall). Lying in bed, trying to sleep after everyone had left, unable to sleep, trying desperately to get some rest before flying off to my surprise honeymoon. Looking at Wiley and nearly melting from the love I saw in his eyes.
Thank you for taking this wild ride with me, babe. I love you.
