Last weekend and this week, I got about 2/3 of the border bed that I want for my front yard planted. Once my bulbs finish dying back, I' m going to re-arrange how they're laid out, and then this one small bit of my "landscaping" will be done. Landscaping goes in quotes because, well, our yard still needs a LOT of help.

In order to try and help my memory, I'm recording what I've planted, with a little detail about each, so that hopefully, I can remember what I've got so far)

Dianthus "Telstar Purple" (6 plants) these have jagged edged, deep pink-purple flowers
Ageratum "Hawaii Royal" and "Hawaii Blue" (18 plants) they're tiny, and have flowers that look like little purple puffballs
Lobelia "Riviera Midnight Blue" (10 plants) These are small, spiky grassy plants with little tiny deep purple flowers
Moss Phlox "Emerald Blue" (3 plants) These are kind of mound shaped, and will grow to be ground cover, in a kind of mossy fashion. They flower all over with pink-purple flowers
Sutera diffusa "Bacopa" (2 plants) these are little, low-lying viney ones with small white flowers
Dianthus arenarius"Sand Pinks" (2 plants) These look like little shocks of beach grass, with small flower buds that come up on taller shoots. They haven't opened, but I'm expecting they'll be pink.
Day lilies "Stella d'Oro" (2 plants) Day lilies, with low stemmed, small yellow flowers
And some violets, some lily of the valley and another type of lily (don't know what) that I swiped from my parent's gardens.

This is, of course, in the nature of a grand experiment. I don't know how these guys will grow- what will thrive, what will die. But, we'll see, and I'll take the knowledge with me into next year.

Tomorrow, I'm inheriting a red Scotch Broom from my aunt and uncle - I have to figure out where it is going to go. And, I saw that my local garden center had scads of already started vegetable plants, so I'm not left out of the vegetable garden idea for the year (I simply had NO time to try and start my own plants, so I thought I was out of luck.) So, tomorrow will be spent getting the vegetable patch ready, and maybe going and buying some of the plants. Despite how cold it was this past week, I'm hoping we are beyond the last freeze for the year, and therefore it'll be safe to plant them.
