Big huge changes coming. Big huge things weighing on my mind. And for some reason, I'm afraid (Is that even the right word? I don't think it is. Maybe reticent would be better) to write about them here. I'm not sure why, although I think it's simply that my brain hasn't finished processing yet.

So, for the time being, I'll be content with a recap. Friday was quiet, and restful and all kinds of good before Saturday. Saturday morning, my Dad, bless him, got up with Widget (he's an early riser, and so was already awake when he heard her stirring), so Wiley and I got to sleep in for an hour more than we would have. We caught a quick shower, and then waited for people to arrive. Got my dad all packed up with gear for Widget, and sent them off to the Children's Museum. People started gathering, and by 12:15 or so, we were off to Providence for game playing and shoe shopping. I still feel bad that some folks showed up at about 12:45 to find a locked up tight house. Oooops.

Came home, relieved my Dad and sent him on his way home. Cooked a massive amount of food, then played a neat game called Munchkin. I am NOT a gamer, but this was light enough even for me. It was fun, even if I was really really bad at it. Amazingly, Widget somehow actually slept through a houseful of people making noise. I'm still not quite sure how that happened.

Sunday was much dimsumming, cleaning and shopping. We had to replace Widget's favorite book, which she'd managed to rip in half in her exuberance and love for the book. We'd seen its demise coming, but if was still a surprise on Friday to only be handed half a book. "Rhinoceroses SNORT and SNUFF... and say 'Hey, where did the little dogs go?' " Bought her a few more Boynton books and a board copy of Goodnight Moon. Wiley got a couple books, and I indulged in buying a couple more of the fluff mysteries I started reading a couple months ago. Widget has gotten very cute with her books lately - she likes being read to a LOT. She brings over one book, sits on your lap to listen to it, then goes and gets another, and repeats over and over and over. There are a couple that I must read 20 times a day.

Put Hannah to bed, grilled some chicken outside for dinner... I tried stuffing it with some garlic and basil, but it didn't quite work like I'd hoped - the garlic flavour didn't permeate the chicken, and it didn't cook enough inside either, so it was quite raw and sharp still. Watched Wiley play video games, chatted with rainy, and worked on my stitching project.

Yesterday, I had no babysitter due to train snafus. This was unfortunate, since I'd promised to take rainy to the Cape for camp, and that meant 2+ hours in the car for Widget. She did okay with it though, and I managed to stave off her nap until we got home, so I could have some peace and quiet in the afternoon. Let me tell you, there's nothing like having to drag a cranky, 25 pound toddler out of the car, through the house and up the stairs when you have to pee so badly you can barely stand, never mind walk. Why is it that it's always those times that my key decides to stick in the door?

Made eggplant parmesan for dinner last night WITHOUT setting off the smoke detector, watched a strange movie called Citizen Ruth, watched a beautiful lightning show, finished Widget's stitchery, and got closer to finishing the wedding sampler I've been working on. Got to sleep WAY too late, which I .must.not.do. again.

Now I must finish editing my doc so that I can go home on time.
