What a great weekend so far.
Nov. 17th, 2001 09:40 pmI haven't had a weekend this good in a long time.

Yesterday was great. I always forget how much I like getting my hands "dirty" and doing things like pulling apart machines. We started at about 4pm and I finally gave up at 4 am when I started getting nauseated from lack of sleep and lack of food. I got to work with my favorite co-worker Josh, and Rick, and damn if my boss (the owner of the comapny), Dave wasn't there with us. He was still going strong when I packed it in. Apparenly, they stayed until about 6:30, got everyone back online with no troubles.
As much as I bitch about my job, there are a lot of things that are great about it. How many of my friends are on a first name basis with the owner of their coapanies? How many of them can curse like a sailor in front of their boss and have it not matter? The four of us went out to dinner, and spent the whole time talking and laughing like friends; that's probably because on some level, at least, we are friends. And that's important to me, and it makes me happy. After dinner, we got completely lost in the wilds of Somerville, Medford and Charlestown trying to get to Home Depot and then find our way back. And the whole time we were laughing our fool heads off. If work was like last night all the time, I'd probably stay at this job forever.
After I gave up at HarvardNet, I was driving home through some of the Big Dig. There were workers elding on one of the bridges, and there were all these showers of sparks cascading down from where they were working. It was so beautiful I almost stopped just to watch.
And I got home just as Widget was waking up for a feeding. I fed her, and put her back to bed and finally crawled into bed myself. I slept until 7, when Wiley got up to get Widget, fell back asleep until 9:30 when Wiley brought breakfast, then back to sleep until 1 o'clock. That was heavenly. Much closer to my natural God-given sleep cycle than this 5:30 in the morning garbage.
I got up, and we headed into Harvard Square, met Arwen and Imagination, got my nose pierced (ow ow ow), and watch Imagy get her eyebrow pierced. The guy who pierced us was seriously hardcore. I don't think he'd missed anywhere to get metal pushed through his skin. He had big open disks in his earlobes and tattoos all over. Even on his hands, which always seemed the most serious place to have them for me, since there's really no way to hide them. That's a serious commitment. And really means you can't ever change your mind and get a nice corporate job. That kinda impresses me, partly because I'd never have those kind of balls. I'd hate to not be able to decide to be a different person if I wanted or needed to. Or maybe I'm just too afraid of what other people would think about me. I'm so glad I got my nose done before I watching Imagy's eyebrow. I don't think I would have done it if I'd seen her's first. I think it looks cute, and I'm glad I did it. Now if I can just stop flaring my nostrils, all wil be well. Funny, I never noticed that I did that before, until now, when it hurts every time I do it. I do it all the time. (ow ow ow ow).
After piercing, Wiley, Arwen and I headed over to Central Square for some Mary Chung's, and met Ajax over there. The baby behaved, we had a heavenly dinner (Suan la Chow Show, mmmmmmm), and headed for home.
Now, I should head for bed, because we're getting up stupidly early to watch the leonids (which I've never seen before. Gala, her boyfriend, Arwen and Ajax are all coming to watch since we live the furthest out of the city. I can't wait to see them.
And, I still need to catch up on my sleep. Good night, all!
