Friday Five
Oct. 18th, 2002 03:05 pm1. How many TVs do you have in your home?
Two. One in the living room, one in our bedroom, that doesn't work very well.
2. On average, how much TV do you watch in a week?
Well, the tv's usually on for about 3 hours in the evening (from 8:30-11:30, aproximately), but I'm not always in front of it. Oftentimes, even when I am in front of it, I'm stitching, so only paying half attention to it anyway.
3. Do you feel that television is bad for young children?
Yes and no. It depends on the child, it depends on what they're watching, and how interactive their parents are with them when they're watching it. 1-2 hours a day of educational programming, with an adult talking about what they're watching and reinforcing the things that could be learning from it seems as if it isn't harmful. More than that, and it may not be harmful per se, but it's not *good* either.
4. What TV shows do you absolutely HAVE to watch, and if you miss them, you're heartbroken?
None, really. I make an effort to be around for West Wing, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under. But if I miss a week, it's no big deal.
5. If you had the power to create your own television network, what would your line-up look like?
Hmmmm, this is easier to define as what I wouldn't have. No "reality" shows (this includes both Survivor-type and Cops-type). Beyond that, I don't know.
