So, we're embarking on the beginning of potty training Miss Widget now. And it's an adventure. She's aware of when she needs to pee, and has decided that it's supposed to be in her diaper, not the potty chair. To the point of, she'll be sitting on the potty, stand up, grab herself, walk over to the changing table and demand a diaper. It cracks me up - she will actually hold her pee until we put her back in the diaper. Anyone have any tips on how to make her realize it's OK to pee in the potty? She definitely knows when she's gone to the bathroom too - she demands to be changed as soon as she goes.

Last week, we were having naked potty timem and she peed all over the floor. Then she slipped in it, and laughed. We hustled her over to the potty seat but there was no more left. Today, she pooped on the floor - apparently, while actually trying to back up onto the potty seat, so maybe she is learning. Poop everywhere, including on her shoes, but thankfully, I was not on the clean-up detail (Thanks, Imagy!).

I think I'm too old for this.

Whee, potty training! I think you're doing just fine - it's a lot to expect to have her get it right the first time, and before she is 2 1/2 for sure. It's great she's got the concept at all. After my experience with Poopsie I decided that potty training is for the birds. All you need to do is make the potty available and ask every so often if she wants to use it. She will TOTALLY get it, magically, suddenly, when you're not looking. I was amazed.

Just be glad you don't have a boy - it's amazing, in Poopsie's day care room (they're all 3+ yrs old), ALL the girls are completely trained and ALL the boys are still in diapers!

good luck - you will have a few more messes to clean up before you're through!

My mother had a great deal of trouble potty training my youngest sister. She said, "The four of you trained yourselves, but Betsy is a problem."

I distinctly remember my brother being a bit of an issue. We had an elderly dog at the time and as a result of her final days coinciding with Luke's training we were never quite sure who had peed on the carpet.

Luke would be running around, stop, take off his diaper and throw it into the air. He would scream, "I'm free! I'm free!" run around waving his hands in the air and then pee on the carpet.

I found it entertaining.
