Everything always takes longer than you think.

So, I didn't get quite as much done tonight as I'd hoped. But I did finish (where finish means ready to go in a box and get wrapped):

• Sachet for my grandmother
• Sachet for Ina
• present for Ms. Carrie
• Present for Ms. Mindy
• Present for hoo and gala

This leaves me with:

• Last minute stitching and piecing non-ornament for Ms. Shani
• Piecing ornament for Ms. Dory
• Finishing stitching and piecing sachet for Ms. Liz

Sadly, as always, there's not time to make presents for everyone on the list, so I'll just have to start making out next year's list now, I think.

The rest of my to-do list from earlier isn't shrunk as much as I'd like either - since the piecing took longer than I thought. I was a "bad mom" earlier and let Widget watch her Elmo video so that I could wrap presents in peace. We need at least one more video though - the one we have is kind of scary, so she ends up wanting hugs for about half the video, which well, defeats the purpose just a little bit. But she is learning about "scared" when she watches it.

My mom's present is en-route apparently. I hope it's not too huge, since we'll be bringing it to CT with us. Wiley's mom's present is huge - I wish we could have ordered it early enough to have it shipped directly, but after being screwed by Amazon two years running, I don't trust any on-line shopping with less than two weeks notice around Christmas time. At least now we have it - I just have to figure out how to a. wrap it and b. ship it without it getting destroyed. Wish me luck!

I'm sooooo longing for that upcoming week in January when I get to get away from all this!

Oh yes, and I'm completely covered in fuzz from ornament piecing. *sigh*

Now now, remember, to a 19 month old, the vacuum cleaner is scary. There's a fire in Mr. Hooper's store, and so Elmo is all freaked out and scared. That's weird enough that it freaks Miss Widget out too.

PS if you are a bad mom then I am evil mommy dearest incarnate - I have been known to put on Mary Poppins when I need two plus hours of peace!!!

It's the one where there's a fire in Mr. Hooper's store. I don't think it's the fire part that's scary, but seeing Elmo all shaken and quiet that gets her. She was soooo cute though - sitting on the bed, looking kind of worried. When I asked her what was wrong, she said "scared". I asked her if she was scared, or if Elmo was scared, and she just said "scared" again. I walked over and she gave me a big cuddle hug. She was fine by the time they went to the firehouse though.

She's not quite transfixed enough by the television yet to buy more than 30-45 minutes of peace. I can't wait until she's big enough to watch whole movies.

Oh I hate that one too. It's very upsetting when Elmo gets all scared and quiet. Didn't seem to bother Poopsie though. She just thought the firement were cool.

Now, I don't follow Sesame Street... but isn't Mr. Hooper taking a dirt nap? I thought Elmo appeared long after he went on to the big PBS station in the sky.

Silly. Mr Hooper dies when *I* was still watching Sesame Street. But it's still called Mr. Hooper's store. Call it an homage, if you will. ;)

Believe it or not, I never watched Sesame Street or any such PBS show when I was little. I fed off Tom & Jerry cartoons... which may explain some things. :)
