Time it was, and what a time it was...
Jan. 1st, 2003 09:22 pm2002: the recap to end all recaps
Quite a year, I have to say.
I started writing out a month by month summary, but the truth is, not enough happens in my life to make that an interesting or useful format, so I think I'll just sum up.
Widget has gone from an 8 month older baby who was just learning how to crawl, couldn't talk, couldn't pick up Cheerios, and ate only rudimentary solid food to an exuberant 20 month old toddler who races around the house at breakneck speeds, knows more words than I can count easily, eats just about every kind food we give her. The difference in her skills and abilities is amazing to behold, both for how quickly the changes occurred, and their sheer volume.
I still don't much like my job. How much I hate it seems to come in ebbs and flows, depending on just how dumb my bosses are being. They started making me carry a pager again, and travel again, neither of which are good for my family life. Being full time and having benefits again was definitely a good thing though. I'm planning on still sticking it out for the time being. It's a living.
My house is still standing. I didn't get to do almost any of the work on it that I wanted to this year, but given my busy life and inherently lazy nature, no one should be surprised by this. I did love planting a garden this year, and eating perfectly fresh vegetables. I'll likely do that again this summer, I should think.
Highpoints from this past year included: Going to Delaware for New Year's, getting my tongue pierced, going to Columbus to visit
smurfchick, seeing Ani perform twice, having my garden, seeing Indigo Girls again, Widget learning how to walk, the stitching retreat with all most of my favorite women, sailing with Linda and Bill, finally deciding to lose weight and shedding 46 pounds between June and January, taking yoga classes, Wiley turning 30, doing the CSA over the summer and getting lots of good vegetables, seeing my oldest friend marry a wonderful man. I'm sure there are others, but I can't remember them anymore.
I see no reason to rehash the low points. I remember them well enough.
