And this is a sobering thought.

Stop and Shop has one of those annoying "Shopper discount cards". As much as I don't like having them be able to track what I buy, all thhey keep a running "Year to Date" tally of your savings at the bottom of your receipts.

Last week, I looked at our tally for last year, and saw that I have saved over $700 last year. This doesn't count the fact that we got a new account a few months into the year, or the weeks when I've forgotten my card. If I've saved that much, do I even want to think about how much I've actually spent?

Gah.

Ah ha!

And that is WHY they don't put a "Amount of money you've spent feeding yourself and your family" total on your receits. They just put how much you saved so you'll feel proud and happy. My guess, if you saved $700 in one year you probably spent close to $10,000. Don't you wish you could give up eating for a few years in order to save up some money for Hannah's education? Come on! If Ghandi could do it so can you! :)
