Well, not quite as planned.
Feb. 9th, 2003 10:52 pmLorac called at 4:30 to cancel on me for tonight. Some silly lie about stabbing stomach pains (I know you weren't really lying. I hope you're feeling better!)
After I got over my cranky for that, I debated what to do with my evening. I couldn't think of anyone to call to go instead, especially since I didn't have the time, schedule-wise, to drive into town. After my initial "I hate going to the movies alone" reaction, I stopped to think if I ever had gone to the movies alone, and if I had, I couldn't think of when or what I saw. Since I really wanted to see this before it disappeared, I decided I didn't have anything to lose by going by myself.
Cooked dinner, finished my laundry (it's even all put away and everything. amazing), smooched Widget good night and headed out. And except for the annoying loud couple behind me, I had a lovely time, although next time, I must remember to bring a book for the before movie lag time. The movie (The Pianist, for those who are just joining us) was beautiful and violent and haunting. I'm very glad I got to see it. And I got to discover that I hated only the idea of going to the movies alone, and that I rather liked it.
And a note on going to the movies: If you are so clueless as to need to ask what's going on every 15 minutes, need every plot point reiterated to you, or need every character re-identified when they come on screen, please, for the love of god, do the rest of us a favor, and sit a bit away from the crowd? Thank you. I swear, the woman sitting behind me was as bad as your average four year old.
