Weekend recap
Feb. 16th, 2003 11:11 pmThis weekend was a mixed bag.
Friday was delightfully low key. I had to put in a few hours at work, getting started testing a new text filter. Due to miscalculation on my part (wherein the site sent me ONE 1.5 gig .rar file instead of many small zip files) my stay at the office was shorter than I had planned. Darn. Came home, hung out with Imagy for a bit, then played with Widget when she woke up. Not surprisingly, we read lots of books. Wiley came home a bit early, and tackled feeding Widget while I got started processing text. Our Valentine's Day celebrations were very casual. We got take-out sushi after the bug had gone to bed, and he indulged me in letting me watch episodes of Sex and the City that were running in a marathon on HBO. I had some wine, and some ice cream drenched in Kahlua, got a bit tipsy and passed out. Ooooops. Oh, and Wiley brought me lovely flowers, including two beautiful roses that are currently making my desk smell lovely. Aaaaand, I finished his scarf in time to give it to him, and I think he really likes it. I think he was also actually surprised - or if he wasn't, he managed to fake it pretty well.
Saturday was pretty enh. I slept in, but only after two hours of listening to Widget chatter in her crib... so I never really got back to sleep, even after Wiley got up with her. It drives me bonkers that he can sleep through that and I can't, it's just not fair. Once I got up, I spent most of the afternoon monitoring text importing, finding problems to send to my poor overworked developer. Never mind that I have three number 1 priority tasks for this week, each of which should take up about 75% of my time. (Go ahead, do that math.) Then, because I'd given myself a killer headache, I went and slept for three hours. And, oh yeah, I forgot the part where we were supposed to go to a party and Widget's stupid naptime behavior put us completely off any schedule for doing that. Bleah. Watched Ali and didn't really cook much for dinner. Went to bed cranky.
Today was better. Got up, hurredly finished my mom's birthday present (that I thought I'd finished up a month ago, but hadn't). Got coffee, drove to CT to my parent's house. Met my kid brother's new girlfrined, and I have to say, she seems vvery nice. We hung out for a while, and then since my mom was nice enough to tell me that a book I've been desiring greatly was 40% off this weekend, while Widget took her nap, we headed to Borders, and to get a birthday cake to surprise Mom. Had diner and cake with the folks, drove home with a somewhat cranky Widget, then watched the 300th episode of the Simpsons, and the second to last Oz.
Well, that about wraps it up. Oh, except to add that my Dad is really cute reading to Widget in his big recliner chair - he bought her The Cat in the Hat and it was just long enough that she didn'want to sit still for the entire thing. He kept trying, though.
Now, I think I have a date with a book. Night all!
