With plans to go see Chicago tonight, I'm actually going to manage to see all the Best Picture nominees this year. Makes more a much more fun Oscars pool and party, I'm hoping. The last few years I've only seen 2 or 3 of the movies, and it's hard to be even a little bit invested in the awards if you've missed most of the movies. Not that I care all that much about the awards in general, but Ms. Lorac has a party every year, and it's fun to play along.

I am jealous - it always takes me way too long to see movies - we go maybe twice or three times a year. This year by having seen Chicago I have actually seen ONE of the movies nominated for best picture - I consider that ahead of the game! Usually I have seen none of them.

J and I have a contest every year - the one who picks the most winners gets taken out to dinner. The loser chooses the restaurant! Everybody wins!

Your contest sounds lovely! Our game consists of Lorac kicking ALL our butts - last year we did a Yahoo group, and out of 170,000 people playing, she was number 169. She's that good. Needless to say, we refuse to play for money ;)

I think I've managed what I did this year by sucking up and going to the movies by myself. No worrying that Wiley doesn't want to go, no hassle of trying to find a sitter, or waiting for our date nights. It's not as fun as going with folks, but it gets the job done. And it ends up being cheaper in the long run, too. And having a great "art house-ish" theatre 10 minutes from home doesn't hurt either.
