Friday Five (Yeah, I know it's Saturday)
Apr. 5th, 2003 08:53 pm1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life?
Let's see, 9 total:
The two apartments in East Hartford that my parents had when I was a baby
The house in Manchester where I grew up
I'll count all the college dorms as one
The house on Christy with Wiley and 3 college friends
The apartment on Beaver St. with just Wiley
The apartment in Malden
The apartment in Dorchester
The house in Weymouth
2. Which was your favorite and why?
That's a tough one, since they almost all had good and bad things to them (except Beaver Street. That one was a miserable piece of crap with a crazy landlady). I think I'd have to go with the current house though, because it's ours and we can do what we want with it, even if it's not laid out or organized to make the best use of the space.
3. Do you find moving house more exciting or stressful? Why?
More stressful than anything else. We have a LOT of stuff, and moving it is a bitch. Plus I like to try and be more organized than I think I'm actually capable of being, and I always set impossible goals for how well I'll pack everything and how quickly and neatly I'll unpack.
4. What's more important, location or price?
Heh, in Boston that's a moot point, since normal people can't actually afford anything in a good location. If I'm still within what I can afford, I'll almost always take location over price, but as one of my other friends put it, the challenge is finding the perfect balance point between the two.
5. What features does your dream house have (pool, spa bath, big yard, etc.)?
Hmmmm, this will pretty much be a list of all the things I wish this house had: a tub at least big enough to comfortably soak in, both width, depth and length (our's is 0 for 3 on that), a large closet with shelves as well as hanging rods, a bathroom with adequate storage space, an already nicely landscaped yard that only needs maintenance work (we're getting there, slowly), an outdoor shower, a large screened-in deck for being outside without getting eaten alive, probably a hot tub, lots of built in bookshelves.
