Friday's playdate
Apr. 5th, 2003 09:06 pmDespite getting in at an ungodly hour on Friday morning from Huntsville, I didn't want to break the plans that Lorac and I had made to take Miss Widget up to New Hampshire to visit Cran and her little boy, who's 4 months older than Miss Widget. We packed into the car first thing, went to collect Miss Lorac and were running late enough that we didn't go the long way around just to go through the new tunne. (Bah. It'll be there for a while, I'm sure.)
Drove up to NH in the yucky sleety weather, which was actually about 3 inches of snow at Cran's place. Her 7 year old was home from school because of the snow, so we had a crowd of rather hyper little ones to referee for the afternoon. Cran's two are both very active little ones, and as much as I think Widget is hyper and high-energy, compared to those two, she looks like a shrinking violet. Of course, their exuberance was infectious, so by the end of the afternoon, Widget was running around screaming with them like she was born to it.
I think she had a good time - she and Paul had fun playing, and it's definitely good for her to start learning about sharing and such. I had a great time too - I don't know Cran all that well, and it was nice to have some quiet-ish time to visit and get to know her a little better. Lorac and I had good conversations on the way up and back, and we had some time to get caught up with each other, since I'd been gone all week. And besides, we have lots to discuss. *bouncebouncebounce*
Got home super late, fed Widget and put her to bed late, which meant she sort of slept in this morning which was certainly welcome too. I definitely hope we can get together again soon, hopefully on a day warm enough that they can go outside and run off some of that energy.
