These would be from [livejournal.com profile] cider

1 - If you had the opportunity to either go up in a hot air balloon or going scuba diving, which would you choose?

I think scuba diving. I love the idea of hot air ballooning far more, but heights have started to make me terribly dizzy, and I'm afraid I wouldn't enjoy it. But I'd still probably do it.

2 - What was your favorite cereal growing up?

Hmmmm. I'm not sure I can remember. Probably Golden Grahams, because it was the closest we got to a sugary cereal in my house.

3 - Describe one of your most memorable family get-togethers.

Wow. This is sad, but I cannot think of a memorable family get-together. Memorable trips, maybe, but not get togethers. We're a pretty boring lot, I guess.

4 - What was the name of your first pet, and what type of animal was it?

The first pet I actually liked? (I refuse to count the cat my parents had before I was born, with whom I shared a mutual dislike) The dog we got when I was 5 or 6 - a sidewalk setter named Missy. She was a sweetheart. The first pet I actually owned myself was an awesome Teddy Bear hampster named Tarzan. He liked to climb accross the top of his cage, hanging by his teeth (hence the name).

5 - Were you grounded as a teenager? If so, describe one of the reasons behind the grounding.

Heh. Countless times, usually not for more than a day or two. There were three that were notable though:
1. The summer before my freshman year I had a boyfriend I wasn't supposed to have. We were off hanging out together, and the friend who was my cover story called my house looking for me (Thanks, Becky) Needless to say, when I diddly-bopped home two hours later, my parents were fuming.

2. The next summer, my sister and I decided it would be a good idea to go parking with some boys. And it wasn't a BAD idea until the cops showed up. Both of us? Under 16. I had to give the cops my Catholic School high school ID. Oh yeah.

3. I don't even remember why, but I got into one HELL of a fight with my mom - like, smacking each other around the kitchen kind of fight. I was grounded for a loooong time after that.

1. A combination of things made me fall in love with Chuck. Right off the bat, I was attracted to his bright olive green eyes and his flirty smile. As I got to know Chuck better, I fell in love with his sense of humor, his intelligence, his stability, his loyalty to his friends, his unique take on the world, and his hunger for adventure. The best part about our relationship is that I don't feel like I need to be something different than what I am when I'm around Chuck. He doesn't make me feel guilty, he doesn't keep me from doing the things I need to do to keep myself happy, and he relishes the time we spend together -- no matter what we're doing. A trip to the supermarket is as wonderful as a trip to Montreal with Chuck. I knew I needed to marry Chuck when I realized that I couldn't see myself without him in my life, and that I wanted to spend the rest of my days figuring him out.

2. College -- or at least my experience at Wesleyan -- made me really unhappy. The situation was complex back then, but there were a few concrete reasons why I left. I was really unhappy socially at college. I found that I was taking on the role of caretaker for the groups that I was involved with, and the people in those groups weren't exactly functional and emotionally well. I over extended myself, and I couldn't see joy in my experience there. On an academic level, I was meeting a lot of challenges, too. I had no clear mentor at the school besides my conductor (who couldn't be my advisor) and my voice teacher. I felt like if I fell off the face of the planet, the rest of the university wouldn't care or notice. I wanted to be a Western Classical Voice major there, and there were only two other people in that major at the school. I'd have had to develop my own curriculum for my major with inadequate class offerings from the department. The school's focus was ethnomusicology, jazz, and modern/electronic music. I wouldn't have been able to find the diction, language, and theory courses that I would need to have a complete music education. My voice teacher urged me to leave the school if I were serious about singing; she had only said this to 3 or 4 students in her entire career at Wesleyan. If people were really gifted, she wanted them to get a more balanced education in a conservatory program. So -- I left to find my fortune, and here I am.

3. I probably wouldn't go on a show like American Idol or Star Search. Realistically speaking, I'm probably too old and my look doesn't really match that of a pop star. Plus, I don't really sing the sort of music that sells on one of those shows. I'm not a great pop singer -- I sing better folk and classical. Besides all that, the people who were auditioning and performing with me would probably drive me up a freaking tree. Performing arts types make me crazy, even though I'd love to be in the performing arts. Oh, the irony!

4. Yes, or I hope so, or I'd love to come to a party that you throw. The problem with me is that I run a very tight and packed schedule. I'm the sort of girl who has to plan things months in advance (with built-in break times in-between) because events and people hurtle through my life like speeding bullets. I'm sure when we end up starting a family, this will slow down immensely. For now, I'm a tough girl to pin down. I would like to come to the next party you guys throw very much. I like you and Wiley a lot (or what I know of you).

5. There are two dishes that I make that I absolutely love: a rich version of colcannon, the Irish potato/leek/cream/butter dish, and a nice creamy beef strogonoff. Those are two of the best things I can cook, and I melt when I finally get to put my handiwork on a fork and into my mouth. :)
