Nail polish?

So, Widget's been fascinated by my toes when they're painted. I figured she was getting ol enough to sit still long enough for a single coat to dry, so on Sunday when the weather was bad, I asked her if she wanted to play nail polish, since the weather was blech, and I thought it would be a fun distraction. One thing led to another, and we didn't get to do it. Since then, she keeps asking to "play nail polish". But everytime I say yes, she sudenly changes her mind. I think she doesn't actually know what it is and gets a little scared by it. It's very funny, either way.

We need to get the bug's hair cut - the ends are a little damaged, and it's making hair brushing into a huge ordeal (the curly top doesn't help any either). Oh, speaking of curly hair, someone on my friend's list recently posted a link to curly hair care. If it was you, could you leave a comment with the link? I've lost it. And it's stupid, because I know she needs the cut, and I know they can only do a little trim and it'll be fine, but I love her hair so much, I don't want to cute it. It's so pretty and soft and adorable. I know this is my baggage and I just need to let it go, and do what's objectively the best for her (why make a two year old sit through hair brushings that they hate?) but oooooh, it'll pain me to see it get cut off.

My nephew is five, and just loves loves loves to have his toenails painted. He even complimented me on my pale green with sparklies polish that I wore to another aunt's wedding. He recently became friends with his babysitter's grandchild, and we all worried about what we saw as the possible loss of his sweet innocent delight in such things. Sure enough, our Monkey was informed, "Boys don't wear nail polish." He thought this over, then stoutly replied, "Well, I do." We're so proud.

Good for him!

You know, I got the most attention in college from women when I had my nails painted. A couple said I did a better job than they did, and then asked if I could show them how I did it. :)

Naturally, they did this in front of my then girlfriend when she was hanging off my arm!

Too bad I never painted my nails in college when I was single.
