Magical morning

This morning, Miss Widget decided that 6:40 was an appropriate time to wake up (yes, I know how blessed I am to have a child who regularly sleeps past 8am). Wincing, I crawled out of bed to see if she was okay. I walked in her room, and said in my sweet mama voice "Widget, honey, it's too early to wake up, you need to go back to sleep a while longer.", which elicited only a wail. I rubbed her back, and asked her what was wrong. In her little sniffly voice, she said "I need a hug". So I picked her up, and settled into her rocker to cuddle, then realized her diaper was w.e.t. We changed her diaper and snuggled for a few more minutes. I told her that she needed to go back into her crib to sleep a while longer, and she siad "Okay, mama." Plonked her down in her crib, and she went right back to sleep, and slept until nearly 10:00.

OK first? I'm seething with envy at the 6:40 thing, let along the 10AM thing!

Second of all, isn't it great when you can talk to them? It makes a lot of this stuff easier, doesn't it.

I'm sorry I have a kid who sleep late. I really do know how lucky I am. Really.

And yeah. SO MUCH EASIER. I can't even quantify how much easier.

please tell me she's stays up till all hours of the night so i don't pass out with jealousy about the 10am thing. ;)

Most nights bedtime is between 8 and 8:30, so fairly late (I don't get out of work until 7, so a slightly later schedule works for all of us). Some nights she conks right out, others she sits in her crib chattering until she crashes (which will be an issue when she's in a bed, eeeek!).

And 10 is extraordinarily late waking time for her; 8-8:30 is the usual norm. But even 8:30 is WORLDS better than 6:30.

we're lucky if Alex is asleep by 9, and he's usually up at 7, bah!

Wow.

See, I'm rarely actually capable of being nice pleasant mommy at 7:00 in the morning. Perhaps Widget's learned through sheer preservation instinct not to wake me up before 8 in the morning.

Seriously. I'm like hungry bear being woken in Febuary if you try to pry me out of bed before 8am. It's not a pretty sight.

i can handle 7. before 7... ergh. before 7 i hand him the remote to the tv in our room. ;)
