Today, we're driving down the highway, past a shopping center that's near our house. All of a sudden, Widget lets out this exuberant yell, "That's where we got 'Blue goes to School'!" Which Wiley bought for her months ago at the Best Buy in the center. Wiley tells me that when he drives past the U-Haul place on our corner, she yells out that it's where they returned the truck that our friend rented, also months ago. How does she remember these things?

One of the things that I say when she asks me to do something I can't (or don't want to) do, is "I'm not very good at that, can we do X instead?" Today she asked me for help with something, saying she wasn't very good at it. I'm not sure whether to be amused or horrified that she's picked that up.

She seems a little out of sorts about Wiley leaving. She keeps making sad noises, and saying she can't tell me why she's sad. When I ask her if she misses her Daddy, she makes a sad face and says "yes, I do." Hopefully, this will get better before it gets worse, since he's gone for two weeks. A week or so ago, when she was making her little sad noises, I told he she sounded like a sad doggie. Now when she does it, if you ask her what's wrong. she says that she is a sad doggie. Cute, but not helpful. Silly girl.

Alex has a super memory, too. All day he tells me things we've done in the past and says "remember that mommy?" after them.

Awww... ((hugs)) to Widget.

The best memory story ever is when a five-year-old told my mother they were going the wrong way to her house, and she was right!

p.s. Widget is so cute I could just eat her with a spoon.

Awww, that's so cute.

I got a cute story too about kids missing people. My friend in Australia ([livejournal.com profile] mikeymuggle but you don't know him) lived with a single mum and her 4 yr old boy. We were trying to explain that I was going to Canada by saying that 'Pennie's going overseas, she's going up in a plane, and she won't be back for a long time, and we're going to miss her'. For a few weeks after I left, whenever he saw Mikey, he said 'Pennie's gone on a plane, and you miss her. I miss Mummy too'. Since Mummy hadn't gone anywhere, goodness knows why he said that.

Sipmle she got it from genetics. she seems to have the same nack for remembering places she's been, long after she's been there, that i have. for those of you that don't know what i'm rambling about, i could drive buy an establishment(mainly resturants and donut shops) in the middle of east bumfuck New Hampshire and remember stopping there while neither my dad or brother can ever remember stopping there.
