Oh man. This is just dead on.

I'm thirty years old, I've never not had Thanksgiving with my *own* family, and now I have to go to New York to have Thanksgiving with his family. And I know, grown up mature people don't have screaming tantrums on the floor over one stupid holiday, but I just know it's going to be all wrong. *sigh*

I can so sympathize with you. I had a very *wrong* Thanksgiving one year and it was just horrible. Worse than if I hadn't even celebrated it. :( I hope it goes okay for you.

I'm sending you good thoughts, dear. I'm dreading the first Christmas I have to spend away from my family.

First of all, that was AWESOME.

Second of all, I totally understand. It is weird to have stuff not be the same as it is SUPPOSED to be. If it helps, one thing I did when we spent Thanksgiving with William's family is I made one of my favorite Thanksgiving foods so that at least SOMETHING was how I liked it. Not much of the rest of it was! Stupid chipolte pumpkin pie.

I knew it was going to be bad the first Thanksgiving I had to spend with J's family. I watched his mom put hard boiled egg into the gravy. Then she put hard boiled egg into the "dressing" (where's my freakin' stuffing, dammit!), and of course, I'm not fond of eggs. So I got to pick egg chunks out of the gravy if I wanted some.

Oh yeah, and we didn't have turkey. Whiny sister didn't LIKE turkey, so we got ham. HAM. FREAKIN HAM.

Hard boiled egg in the gravy and stuffing? Ewwwwwwwww!!!! It is difficult to balance holidays. Since William's family is so far away we can't usually go spend holidays with them. But we try to make sure we see them at least once a year. We're overdue for a trip to Colorado now, but with the wedding next year I don't think it's going to happen before then.

Yeh, I'm really thinking I won't even go. Jon's being an ass this week anyway, so I'm really not much getting the point.
