If you're ever wavering, I'm sure that the two of us would be happy to loan you our daughters for a few hours. :) A 2 yr old and a 17 month old? (Or is Widget 3 now?)
Heh. I don't know if that would cure her - this is my favorite age so far, and even having lived through the larval stage, she makes me want to have another.
Well, that's true. Every stage is a new adventure, and it's a blast when she does or says something you know she couldn't do or say just a day or so before!
Yeah. 18 months or so was when I finally started enjoying myself with Widget, and it really kicked in at about her second birthday. Now, she's just a baby-lust inspiring machine.
They seem to be doing well (how can you really tell with fish?) We got a plecco (sp?) to eat algae and they've been all been named (Dorothy, Shark, Whale and Suckerfish-suckerfish) by Widget. If they're always begging for food does that mean we're not feeding them enough, or that they've learned how to beg?
Glad to hear they're doing well. As long as they seem active as usual, and you don't see any signs of fungus, parasites or discoloration, they'll be doing fine. In terms of tank temperature and PH, the Algae Eater is probably the most vulnerable in the tank. If it's doing OK, the Goldfish should be fine.
They ALWAYS beg for food. You can try feeding them a little more, but a bit of foaming at the top of the tank is normal.
The general rule is two to three feedings a day, consisting of as much as they can eat in about five minutes. Sadly, these are fish that are used to being near the bottom of the pecking order in an overcrowded tank. They don't have a concept of having leisure to eat their food.
As long as they take about five minutes to polish off two or three daily feedings, they're getting enough food.
She's ADORABLE, but I'm still wondering...
