*sigh*

I'm terribly torn. Tomorrow, we have to get up and out of the house by about 10:00 to make it to my grandparent's on time. If the snow arrives earlier, we should really leave by about 9:15 or 9:30. Given that Widget doesn't wake up until about 8:00 most days, and she's not yet so excited about Christmas morning that she'll wake at the crack of dawn to open presents, the timing is a logistical problem, since there will be presents to open, and breakfast to eat, and then herding an overexcited 20 month old into the car for a 2 hour drive.

Last night, Wiley suggested opening presents tonight instead of in the morning. I know it's the logical, smart thing to do, but I'm such a Christmas morning kind of a girl, it just feels so *wrong* somehow. But, I imagine that's what we'll do, just so we don't go completely insane tomorrow morning. Watch, we'll do it, and then Widget will decide to wake up at 6;30 tomorrow, just for kicks.

[livejournal.com profile] sarahparah -- As soon as you buy us plane tickets. ;) Ummmm, seriously, I don't know.

[livejournal.com profile] biophile6 -- Goodness. that's an interesting theory. Lots of things do - having to sit with my hands idle when I could be multi--tasking (like watching tv; it's never engrossing enough). Whiny people who won't help themselves.

[livejournal.com profile] quiltlover -- Stitching, absolutely. Politics, with the right crowd of people (they don't have to agree with me, they just need to be open to discussion). I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] scirocco would say "bitching about work".

[livejournal.com profile] mamawrites -- Josh. He's cuter and kinder. I think my favorite would be CJ, although I'm hard pressed to really pick one favorite.

and it sure does feel gooooood.

I feared earlier this month that I had bitten off more than I could chew with making ornaments, but the only ones I've got left are ones that I'm not giving people until New Year's most likely, so that all done. All my presents are wrapped. Cards went out last week. For once, Wiley's family's gifts were mailed out early enough to not fret much over them, and so did my Godmother's. The tree is up and (sparsely) decorated. Sparse only because we tried to leave off all the breakable ornaments this year, being that we have three cats and a very enthusiastic toddler. We have real live boughs decorating the outside of the house, with little tiny colored lights wound into them, and lights in the bushes.

I wasn't feeling much Christmas spirit until this weekend when I stopped to buy Widget the rest of her presents. Something about being able to buy her a bunch of non-TV themed gifts made me happy, and I stopped after that for a wreath and the evergreen boughs. We went and got a tree on Sunday and put it up.. Widget helped decorate it, and she was so excited about having a tree inside the house.

Now, Wiley has gone of with Widget, and I get to play Santa Claus, bringing all the presents downstairs. We're going to open them when they get back, in the hopes that she'll calm down for bedtime by 8:00. I'm very excited.

May all of you have a Merry Christmas. Safe travels to those on the road and in the air today and tomorrow.
