We went out for special birthday breakfast (Chocolate Chip pancakes at IHOP, with so many chocolate chips we might as well have given her a candy bar for breakfast). We bought her a bookcase / nightstand with some of her birthday money. We visited my office. We played Chutes and Ladders, and then she got ANOTHER game from Imagy, and we played that.

The sun came out, so we finally got to try out the bubble lawnmower she got on Sunday, while I pulled up more of the little nasty prickery bushes that are trying to take over my yard. We had lunch and a short nap (where there was a Dora doll almost as large as her waiting for her - also from Imagy).

Then we went out with Daddy to the clam restaurant for a birthday dinner, and came home and opened her presents from me and her Daddy. I swear, that seemed like overkill. All we got her was a couple of puzzles, and a set of lacing cards. The lacing cards were a BIG hit. She sat for probably about 25 minutes futzing with them, then we had cake and put on PJs, then she wanted to come back and play with them some more. She was tickled pink to be sewing just like Mommy and Titi. She worked on her cards while I knit, and she kept saying "we're both YARNING, Mama!"

The final pile of presents is practically too large to enumerate, there is so much stuff. But we now have CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders (does anyone remember how weirdly moralistic that game is? I was shocked and amazed by it this morning), countless cute summer dresses, and lots of new toys.

This year was really fun because she knew what it was all about, and she was SO excited about everything, but there was no angst or attitude or anything (I'm sure we'll get that in years to come). It was wonderful, and I hope she enjoyed it just as much.

Pictures (and maybe, if we're lucky, mini videos) later this week.
