And I'm very glad I went.

I've written my legislative critters, but sadly, bith seem to be planning on voting for the amendment. Will be calling in the morning to express the depth of my disappointment with them.

Rally was good though. Lots of people, lots of good energy. Even Widget seemed to get into it a bit, until the loud crowd got to be a bit much for her, so we left. Some good signs, some sad, poignant ones too. I think my two favorites were ones that said "Let us eat cake" with a wedding cake behind it, and one that said "We've planned your weddings. Now let us plan ours". Sad ones that said "Engaged 17 years... We're still waiting" and stuff like that.

Only one counter protester, and he had a sign so vile that I won't even repeat it here. Not that it's anything I hadn't even seen before, but still.

I'm so dismayed that people are so threatened by the thought of gay marriage that they would actually amend our Constitution to write discrimination into the very core of our laws. It makes me angry, and I really hope that it doesn't happen.

I'm not optimistic at the moment.

The pairs of men driving by, honking their horns and kissing each other was a good touch, very spontaneous. :)

Make sure you're clear to your reps that you're straight and married. The one I've heard back from IS voting against the amendment....but I knew he supported us anyhow.

Just called my state rep's office, and he is also voting against the amendment. :)

I lay low on overt opinions on politics and hate bumper stickers on principle. But if they brought that amendment to a national level, I might just need to sport one reading: "<Hets Only Amendment>: Eroding American's civil rights one group at a time."
