My house this evening. It's about 10:00, and Miss Widget is STILL not asleep. (Nights like this make me glad she's still in a crib.)

So, I go in there to find out what's up. And she's just not tired. Methinks maybe too much of a nap this afternoon? Anyway.

I haul her out of the crib, we snuggle in the rocking chair for a bit. She keeps wanting to talk and tell stories, I just want her to quietly snuggle and maybe wind down. Silly me. We play this game for about half an hour, and still nothing. So I tell her she needs to be calm and quiet, or back into her crib she goes.

Needless to say, she ends up headed back for the crib. I plunk her in, we get the bears in their proper places, she gets her blankets, and I rub her back.

Then she plunks her thumb in her mouth, lets out this loud impatient sigh (a frighteningly good imitation of my own, I should add) and starts drumming her fingers on the mattress, thumb still in mouth.

Something about that made me nearly dissolve into giggles, and I had to flee the room.

And I think I can *still* hear her singing up there.

Just as I started reading this, I hear my own 20 month old over the baby monitor suddenly start yelling out, 'WANT GRAPES! WANT GRAPES!'

She was exhausted and half asleep when we put her down.
She was actually unconscious when we picked her up at her Nana's.

And NOW she's suddenly yelling out, 'want grapes!'?

Heh. I can't even count the number of times hubby and I have looked at each other with an expression of "what? where did she get that?'

Always going, though, definitely.

Does Widget talk in her sleep?

Heartbreaking, sometimes, too.
Once, I heard her saying, in the most PITIFUL voice I've ever heard...'Milk? Milk? Milk? Water, please?'

I ran into her room because I was afraid she'd been awake and I hadn't heard her, and she was thirsty.
She was sound asleep.
