An artist I'm not
Apr. 5th, 2004 10:57 pmJust thought I'd share one of my funnier moments of the day...
While I may be artistic with a needle and thread, or with a scrap of yarn here and there, put a drawing implement in my hand, and I am a dead loss. This poses a certain problem when one has a toddler who likes for you to draw on command. Luckily, she's not picky.
Today, first she asked me to draw a teddy bear. Oookay. Kind of recognizible teddy bear.
Then, she asked me to draw a cow. So I draw a vaguely cow shaped stick figure with four legs and a tail. She kind of looked at it like she wasn't quite buying it, so I added a speech bubble that said "MOO", and explained that since it was saying MOO, it *MUST* be a cow.
Then, she asked me to draw a dog. So, again with the vaguely dog shaped stick figure, this time even more lopsided because I listened to
scirocco's suggestion to draw a sitting dog (because, you know, somehow *that's* more manageable). And again, she looks at it, and me, like I'm some kind of drawing-disabled idiot. So I go to draw another speech bubble, and there's debate over whether a dog says "Woof" or "Bark". She finally decides on "Woof" so I start to write that in. Except she bumps the crayon right at the end, so instead, I now have a dog that says "Woop".
*sigh*
It probably says something about my state of mind that this prompted ten minutes of nearly unstoppable giggles.
