The garden begins

Went and bought new plants for the garden yesterday. Six cherry tomatoes, 12 lettuce (romaine and buttercrisp) and four basils. Will definitely go back in a couple of weeks and see if they have any other more interesting tomato varieties, like they did last year. I'm curious to see if the lettuces will survive, since I know there's rabbits about in the woods at the end of the street. I can't decide what to do with the rest of the garden. I have such good luck with the tomatoes and such poor luck with everything else, and I love the tomatoes more than anything else I harvest; I really think I want to just get about ten more tomato plants and run with that. I can't decide if that's silly or a good idea.

This year, Widget was able to actually help me plant, which was really cool. She loves to help, and she seemed to really be interested in how the planting worked. She was mad though, that the plants hadn't grown any in the 30 minutes we were working in the front yard. Heh. I think she'll like eating these tomatoes even more than last summer because she was able to help with these.

tarecat, the lilac you gave me last year has beautiful purple flowers on it, and smells heavenly. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow so that you can see just how pretty they are. I can't wait to see it grow into a big tall bush.
