So, this morning is Widget's first day of school.  I've been edgy and nervous about it all week, for various reasons.  She's just been excited - we went last Friday for an open house and she loved it.

This morning, she just zoomed in with her teacher, without even saying goodbye to Wiley or I.  Such a big grownup girl.

I'll be going with Imagy to pick her up at 10:30, since it's her first day.  Hopefully all is going well, and she'll tell me all about it when I get there.

I feel all torn - proud of her, excited for her, nervous for her.

She was quite the opposite of Nicole, who although going into her second year, was a ball of "Scream and Cling to Mommy." We apparently make independent kidlets. :)

Reminds me of a story a friend told me last night (after I related the kid on the bus story) where she too, zoomed right off to her first day of kindergarten, and her mom said later:

"All these other kids are screaming and you just went zipping over to the door AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN LOOK BACK! There I am standing, with tears running down my face, and while I was proud that you were so independent, I wished you'd looked back just once!"

She (my friend) said, "I wonder if all my problems with my Mom can be traced back to that single point."

Way to go Widge! She will love it. How are you holding up?

I hope I handle that day when it comes, as well as you seem to have.
*hug*
Yay for both of you!

Heh, I remember when Johnny started school, and I was so GLAD!!! Paul just started preschool last week, and I think it was tougher on mom than kid. I have to wrangle kisses and hugs from both my kids when I drop them off in the morning. I am so looking forward to taking a flexibility class at the YMCA without having to worry about rushing back to the child watch room... I know at first, I'll feel like I've 'lost' something, but a little bit of mommy freedom is well deserved.

You'll both do fine, and things will always be this easy when school starts. It's a blessing in disguise!
