We bought baby gates this weekend. Now lil miss widget can't go hurtling to her death down the stairs, and we can't walk from room to room without stopping to move gates. Now we just need to figure out how to block the cellar stairs, but make it so that the cats can still get down to their little boxes

Speaking of Widget, she got an awesome belated holiday present today... a little wheeled giraffe to ride on. Obviously, she doesn't know how to make it go yet, but she sure loved getting pushed around on it by her Daddy. I'll post pictures soon.

I look stupid with a nose ring instead of a stud. Or at least, I looked stupid in the one I bought last week. And trying to change it hurt so much I almost cried.
There's more, but I'm exhausted, and going to bed.

My suggestion for the no babay on basment steps problem is for you too look into installing a pet door on the basment door if that's possible. The kitties can go in and out, the doro cna stay shut and the little one won't ahve acess to the steps.
Unless of course she figures things out and is small enough to crawl though the pet door too, I gues sthe trick is makeing sure that pet door is just the right size. Good luck.

Yes. That indeed is the trick, and the reason I just haven't cut a pet door into the door yet.

that's what my parents did with my littlest brother...sawed a cat shaped opening in the cellar door and put a gate on the side of the hallway ian was on. i hope gate technology has improved in 16 or so years and they no longer make the wooden gates that used to pinch my fingers :)
