Interesting
Feb. 24th, 2008 04:28 pmWas listening to This American Life this afternoon while puttering in the kitchen (THAW, you damnable shrimp!), and the show was all about long-term love; stories of couples many, many years into their marriages or love stories.
The stories were interesting enough, but what was more so was their choice of music - at least two of them were set to Liz Phair, songs from Exile in Guyville (Canary, and (I think) Explain it to Me for those who know her stuff). They only used the instrumental parts of the songs, but they were unmistakeable if you were familiar with the album. Granted, the two stories set to her stuff were about the tensions of a very long term relationship, but it was still a very interesting choice of music, and particularly so, since not everyone listening would have recognized the pieces at all.
