So, I was going to be all good last night. Go to bed early, since I had to get moving early enough to get my Swap pal package to the post office before I got in big trouble for not sending it out on time.

Yeah right.

Got caught up in a fight to the finish on Scrabulous with Mr. Wiley (he kicked my ASS), so got to bed late. Like, well past midnight late.

Then, at 4:30, I wake to hear a little knock on my door. Widget, who's woken up and can't get back to sleep because she keeps thinking "scary thoughts about her book." She crawls in, I instantly overheat, cuddle her for the next half hour and finally convince her to go back to bed. Walk her across the hall, tuck her in and come back to bed to lie there awake.

Somehow, I still managed the up and out early bit, and I've even been reasonably functional at work this morning, more so than yesterday, somehow. Weird.

And as a parting shot, this is making me giggle madly this morning.

My favorite part is the bit about the improperly disposed of cereal bar wrappers and banana peels in their beds. HA HA HA BRILLIANT.

Tell me, daughter of mine, how many of those threats rang a faint bell in your memory? I have to admit she's much more cleaver than I but on the other hand this is a well thought out essay and most of my threats were made under the pressure of reaction to a specific instance. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I've laughed so much over a motherhood essay since Erma Bombeck died.
