The muscles in my leg above my knee have spent the past week or two doing this deep slow muscle twitch nearly constantly.

It doesn't hurt or anything, but it is driving me completely insane

Sounds like really bad tension. A massage might help.

My guess would be tension. I know my leg can start bouncing like a castanet if I'm tense or have had too much caffeine. Exercise is the best way to burn of tension for me, but then I've never had the patience for relaxation techniques other than physical exhaustion. I'd have been an abject failure as a Buddhist Monk.

Probably not restless leg though. The disorder is associated with incomplete sleep paralysis, sort of a "sleepwalking light." Your legs are still moving while asleep, but you have enough sleep paralysis to keep you from getting up and walking around.

Is it only when you're sitting? Happens to me sometimes; usually when I am dehydrated. A big bottle of water and a banana help me. Can't hurt to have a banana.

lack of potassium can be linked to muscle twitches.

Maybe doing some gentle stretching might help?

agreed on the potassium...my family's got a history of twitchy muscles, usually helped with potassium supplements or potassium-rich foods.

I get muscle twitches all the time -- usually in my hands and arms.

Bothered if I know what it is either, but it's really annoying, innit?
