Another fun weekend, I think. I'll cut, to spare you the gory details

Let's see, Friday Widget and I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] prunesnprisms at the lunch place near our office. Widget was on very good behavior, and it was great to get out for the walk over there because the weather was very beautiful - warm and spring-like. Actually, I should back up... because Friday morning I ran out to the garden store and found a dandelion digger, which I wanted LAST year, and got prices on the good mulch I want to use, and found some gorgeous wind chimes. Then we came home, Widget went to nap, and I spent an hour outside in the gorgeous day raking up the ugly red-dyed mulch the previous house owners put down in our yard. THEN we went to lunch with Arwen. And came home to find a [livejournal.com profile] smurfchick and [livejournal.com profile] kieron waiting for us. We ended up just sitting around, not doing much but playing with the baby, but it was all good. And [livejournal.com profile] scirocco let them steal me away for the evening. We went to dinner at Zon's in JP; my mac-n-cheese was disappointing, but the company was great. They all went to a movie, but I was tired, and wanted to spend some time curled up with my sweetie, so I headed for home. From the reports, it sounds like I didn't miss much. Got home, cuddled with Wiley, watched him play video games, then started watching a movie at 10:00, which was a bad idea. Got to bed super duper late. But the movie (Beautiful Girls) was pretty good, if a little strange.

Saturday morning, Widget woke us up fucking early. Like 6:45 early. And Wiley and I both did the bury our heads in pillows pretending to be asleep. Finally, pissed as hell, I got up with her and let him sleep for a couple hours. Brought her back at 9:00, collapsed into bed, so tired I was actually falling asleep with the baby talking and beating on me. Wiley made her disappear and I slept until about 12:30, which co-incided with the end of nap time. We gave her her afternoon snack, and headed off to a nursery that the woman who taught my soil class had recommended (Sylvan Nursery). It was a good ways away, and I forgot the directions, but we did a reasonable job of getting close, then called them, so we only wandered lost for about 15 minutes. It's WAY down by the water front in Buzzard's Bay, and it was HUGE! We got there with an hour to browse, and didn't have time to see nearly half of their stock. But I saw some of the plants, and started getting some ideas about what I want for the house. I took notes, and Wiley took pictures. Widget met another little baby, a couple months younger than her, and didn't seem to know quite to make of the Came home, played with the baby, vegged out, put the baby to bed, made dinner and watched Cowboy Bebop (dvd 2) and went to bed.

Wiley got up with Widget Sunday morning, once again at about 7:00, and let me sleep in. I got up about the time she was going down for a nap, and headed out into the bright sunshine to get the rest of the nasty mulch up. Discovered a little tree growing right next to the foundation behind one of the foundation shrubs. Went off to the garden store and bought the good (pine bark - not too acidic, and blends into the landscape) mulch. Mmmmmm, it smells like yummy pine trees. Started spreading that, and raking up the rest of the yucky stuff. Widget woke up, we got her dressed and took her over to the park near the Neponset River in Dorchester (nice flat paths for rollerblading). Wiley took her around in the stroller while I laid on a blanket and read. Unfortunately, the sun went in right as we got there, and it got wicked cold, especially with the breeze coming of the river. We bundled back into the car, and headed for the grocery store, since we only had two diapers in the house, to find that the store was closed.... Stupid Easter. Finally figured out that Kmart was still open and headed over there to get what we needed. When we got home, Wiley entertained the baby outside while I finished up with the mulch. It took a while, but all the ugly mulch is gone, and replaced with nice stuff. There was SO MUCH MULCH out there. Enough to fill my new compost holder (more on that in a sec), and two yard waste bags. For two tiny little spaces. Sheesh. All the yucky kinds of mulch just piled all on top of one another. Bleah. Showered off, hung out while Wiley bathed the Widget, had dinner and watched the F1 race, which was good. Got to bed a little earlier, thankfully.

Of course, this morning, when I wanted little Miss Widget to wake up early to we could go grocery shopping before work, she slept 'til 8:15. But, that was good for reasons I won't go into here ;)

I'm very pleased with my level of productive-ness this weekend. It's rare that I decide I'm going to get X done, and actually have all the time I need to do it. I made two holders for my compost piles (pieces of chicken wire, curled into garbage can sized holders, with the ends hooked around themselves). Lots of air, moisture and sunlight, and open bottoms for the worms to get in (gotta go buy some extra worms, so I can seed the piles - did you know you can buy worms on the internet?) but they're more contained than just having unsightly piles in the back yard. I got all the mulch up, and new laid down. Wiley picked up a bunch of his leaf and grass piles from raking the other day. I spent a LOT of time in the evening stitching, and made some significant headway on the wedding gift I've been working on for the past eight months. All of this makes me happy. I couldn't have done it without WIley taking a lot of the baby time this weekend (thanks babe); I'm so lucky he likes spending time with her so much. I got to spend a lot of time outside, enjoying the beautiful spring weather, and had a lot of fun. If only that didn't make coming back to Monday morning so damn hard. Hee hee

I'm jealous of your productiveness! This is my second day off, and I've gotten squat done around here. Yesterday I was lucky to have made the bed. *heh*
I never did hit the high energy stage of pregnancy that people told me about. Here I am, start of the third trimester, and I haven't been anything but tired as hell. *heh*

Ah well. Three months to go, then the real work begins.

Yeah...I guess it goes on sheer determination.
We'll be moving as soon as we find an apartment we can move into...and we both figure it will be easier to move BEFORE the baby gets here than afterwards.
I'm gonna feel pretty useless in the move, though. I guess I'll be doing the packing, and others will be doing the actual lifting of the heavy stuff.
