siercia: (kicking butt)

I had to take Widget for a checkup today. We missed the 12 month, so we had to play catch up. As usual, she's tall for her age, she's less heavy (percentile wise), but pretty much completely normal and healthy. She hated getting her shots, but really, who wouldn't?

Because her appointment was in the middle of the morning, (and because I wanted an excuse), I took the rest of the morning off - only working for my in-the-office shift. For once, I didn't just fiddle-fart away the time that I had a babysitter and no work either. I cleaned the whole bedroom, mostly because I was tired of having to watch Widget like a hawk when we were playing in there, and we'll be playing in there more frequently while it's hot because there are only air conditioners in the bedrooms.

It is as near to spotless as I could make it without putting Wiley's laundry away. I even put the boxes that have been waiting for a Wiley lift to the basement into the under-eave storage, rather than nagging him about them again. Everything's dusted, the bookshelves are straightened up, all my stitching is put away, I even swept under the bed. The only things of mine left to clean and sort are my dresser tops, which are less urgent because Miss Widget can't reach them. Now, I begin the fight to keep it that way, which is at odds with my natural state. I tend to clean everything really well, remember to try and keep it clean for 1 or 2 weeks, then it starts getting a little out of hand, and then it gets really messy, and then I clean again, starting the whole entire cycle over. But that's okay. Having Widget around inspires me to try harder, just because she's easier to mind when I don't have to watch her constantly in fear of what she might pick up next. I think I want to put the old dining room table and a couple of the chairs up there, so I have a place to work on stitching and sewing that isn't the living room. The bedroom gets good light during the day, and is certainly large enough to hold those, once the cat-pee soaked Papasan chair goes into the basement. Eventually, I think that will get a new cushion and will go in Widget's room when she's bigger.

Then I came to work, and just couldn't get motivated to do very much. I should at least try to organize my receipts from Denver so I can do the expense report tomorrow and get re-imbursed for it.

Oh, and Miss Prudence brought me simply exquisite flowers this week. They're just a joy to look at.

Jann only does expense reports on Monday, I think.

I tend to clean in the same way
I tend to blow off my expense reports in the same way
I tend to like Denver in the same way
I tend to take care of myself better when someone is around in the same way
