These look like fun, so I think I'll jump on the bandwagon.

1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?
I'm the quintessential American mish-mosh. On my mother's side, I'm French-Canadian, although family legend indicates that my great-great-great-great-grandmother on my grandfather's side was a Cree Indian. I've never seen that verified, but I think it's neat. Despite having been in the State since at least my grandparent's generation, when my mom was a kid in the 1940's and 50s, she went to a grade school where they still taught half the day in French. Small mill town in eastern CT that was populated almost entirely by Catholic French-Canadians. On my dad's side, I'm apparently mostly French, with a little Scottish and German thrown into the mix. It's pretty unclear where those bits came from though.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?
*shrug* I guess France. I'm far enough removed from my historical lineage that I have no pull to visit anywhere because of it. There's probably about 20 countries higher on my list of "I want to visit" places, above France.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?

See above

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?
Not really. There's a family reunion in New Hampshire on the "family farm" every year that I've gone to a couple of times. They're mostly relatives that I've only met there, so it's not something I really try to do every year.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?
I have no idea. My maternal grandfather grew up on a farm in NH, my maternal grandmother was born in the town she lives in now (unless I'm mis-remembering). I don't know when their families moved from Canada to the US, and certainly don't know when they came to Canada from Europe. My paternal grandparents were both born in New York, and I don't think their parents were immigrants either. I'm not sure when my grandmother's family came here, but looking at the family history I have, I have to go back to my grandfather's grandparents (great-great-grandparents, I guess) to find someone I know wasn't born in the US. One of them was born in Germany, the other is Switzerland. They were in the US by 1882, because their son was born in NYC.

Hmmmm, interesting, murky and a little vague. I'll try harder next week =)
