IS it just me?

Maybe I am just a big old fuddy-duddy, but I really don't get people who have user icons that are pictures of themselves giving the camera the finger. I mean, I could see it for a pissed off icon, but your normal everyday one? Or worse, the one you use to post in communities?

Why would I want to take seriously anything said by someone doing the visual equivalent of screaming FUCK YOU with their post?

I just don't get it.

Here are some potential reasons (in my mind, anyway).

a - Their whole attitude toward life is 'fuck you, world'.

b - Its 'art'

c - They have a rare muscular disease that causes their middle finger to be extended constantly, and they want to show it off to get pity.

Somehow, my money's on that first one.

And I can't quite figure out why I'd read anything from someone for whom that is their "default" attitude towards the world.

I think c. is the funniest thing I've read all day =)

How does that mess with bandwith, besides being a moderately larger file?

I thought they were complete files that only got downloaded once.

Or am I completely clueless?

You're correct on this, by the way (I know I'm late in responding) but there's a check on those files by the LJ servers, they only get refreshed about once a month.

I'm a fuddy duddy too, so much so that I've never even seen any LJ user icons with someone flipping the bird. I guess I just don't belong to htose sorts of communities.... ;)

That's very true, they ARE a shady bunch.
