It's 4:05 am, and we're 39% finished.

I had the stupidest thing happen on my flight today. We're sitting, waiting for take-off. And sitting, and sitting, and sitting.

Finally, the captain comes on the intercom to explain that there was a family of five who was supposed to be flying with us, but the Dad forgot his ID and wasn't allowed to board the plane. They decided that the rest of the family would board as planned and Dad woul catch up with them, having caught a later flight. Sounds like a good plan, right?

Except that then one of their kids decided, AFTER they had boarded the plane, that he was too scared to fly without his dad. And rather than just tell him to suck it up, they asked to get off the plane, and for some reason, the pilot agreed. So we all had to wait while they go off, and while their luggage was unloaded from the plane.

How stupid are these people, anyway?

It's 4:41, and we're at 53%. Chug chug chug.

I know I've talked before about how Miss Widget is mimicking all kinds of things we say. (Oh shoot!) So, you'd think I know to watch my mouth around her, right?

This morning, we're all in the ar headed for the airport, and some idjit cuts us off or something, and I swear at him; something like "What the fuck do you think you're doing?". And what do we hear piping up from the backseat? Yeah, you got it. "Uck uck uck" Luckily she can't quite say F's yet. I nearly split a seam I was laughing so hard.

It's 5:06, and we're 64% done.

I am so bored right now, I'm starting to make bets with myself about what % we'll reach by a certain time. If I could get to TIM, I'd start a betting pool.

Does anyone know if [livejournal.com profile] smurfchick and [livejournal.com profile] kieron made it safely to Colombus?

It's 6:01 am, and we are 81% done.

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but I think we've actually slowed down the processing even more from when we started. I saw a couple strang errors that I've never seen before, but it let me click past them. At this point, I almost don't care if it works - this has taken long enough that if it doesn't work, we'll just roll them back, and I know how long that will take.

I've been reduced to wearing a borrowed flannel shirt, and I am still freezing. I haven't been this tired in a very long time, either.

Ooooh, I should go check on my Technosphere critters.

It's 6:05, and we're 82% done. *sigh*

Well, damn. My cute little herbivore is dead. I made a new one, but I won't be able to activate him until I get home, and get my home e-mail.

My carnivores seem to be having a whole lot of unproductive sex. I hope they're enjoying it.

One of the best things about this travelling stuff is getting to read in long un-interrupted stretches. On the plane today, I finished The Fuck-up. I think this may set a land speed record for me with a book club book. Anyway, I didn't much like it - it was really depressing. It felt like we were revisiting Holden Caulfield 10 years later; no smarter or wiser, no better at real life, and no nicer either. But it had an interesting ending, and I think it will spark some interesting discussion.

Then I read Two or Three Things I Know for Sure by Dorothy Allison. I thought I hadn't read it before, but apparently I had. I still liked it this time through.

Now I'm halfway through Callie's Tally, which Wiley picked up for free at his office. It's amusing and lighthearted; it does raise the interesting idea of teaching your children the value of their things and their lives, in a way, by keeping track of just how much money we shower on them, even if we only by the necessities. Add in just a little bit of new-mommy stress and angst, and you've got a pretty good, especially for free.

And, I've got American Gods with me for the flight home. I think I'm going to really enjoy it; I just keep getting pulled away from it everytime I think I've found the time to read it. Too many people I know have recommended it for it to be a bad book, right?

It's 6:24 am, and we're 88% done. Go go Gadget Server!
